Things are settling down!

What a busy three months!

First of all, Hilton is doing AWESOME! He has such a wonderful attitude about his diabetes. He's at Camp Sweeney, a wonderful camp for children with type 1 diabetes and he will be there for 3 weeks! That is way too long of a time away from his mommy, in my opinion, but the wealth of information and friendship he will aquire way outweighs the strength of my apron strings! He will learn so much about living with diabetes while he is there that I'm sure he will teach us a thing or two when he gets home.

Second, I have been sewing a little here and there when I can. With the kiddos home for summer and the renovations on our house, I'm still not ready to open up my custom boutique just yet! I would like to wait for school to start before taking on any new custom orders. Here are a few things I've designed lately...

Below is a burpcloth with a pocket to catch those fast moving spitups!

Below is a fun tank with 3D wings attached! This one in particular represents our school mascot. I also made red, white and blue wings for the 4th of July and pretty pink and silver not pictured. Look for more of these to come in the future! I call them "Freedom Wings".

Thanks for checking in!

Closing up shop for a while.

My six year old son, Hilton (pictured earlier in my blog wth the cowboy hat) was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes this past Monday. It was a complete shock to us. He is doing awesome, and if there is any kid who can handle something like this, it is Hilton. He is being such a trooper! He is now insulin dependent and will need 4 shots daily, of which HE prefers to give himself!!! Unbelievable!

Needless to say, we have many changes in store for us; for which I need to completely, 102% focus on.

Please do not question why God gave this sweet little child diabetes.
Jesus said, "This sickness will not end in death. No, it is for God's glory so that God's Son may be glorified through it." John 11:4

And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. Romans 8:28

Hilton knows his Lord and Savior and he loves Him with all his heart! I'm sure of that!

Mommy, there's a ball in my tummy!

That is what I heard this morning from my sweet daughter's lips!

Yep! She swallowed a metal ball from a Magnetix toy kit.

Thank goodness it is just the ball and not the magnet too. Now we wait for the inevitable passing of the ball.

Just a typical Monday at the Harris household!

Boys and Trees

What is it about boys and trees? Well, at least he has his helmet on!
This tree expedition originally began when my sweet cat, Mystic, was spotted up in it. So, down goes the bycicle and up goes the boy. I ran as fast as I could to get the camera, but upon my return, Mystic plunged out of the tree and scattered across the yard. There was Walker, smiling away, waiting for me to take his picture.

Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be cowboys!

Especially cowboys with dimples!

Look how handsome Hilton looks! I have a weakness for dimples and he has one on his right cheek. Look where he got it from...

Yep! Daddy!

You can't tell in this picture, but Halle has a dimple on her left check. Kindof funny how that worked out. Dad has two, Hilton has one on his right cheek and Halle has one on her left.

My oldest son has none.

The first thing the pediatrician told me when she noticed his dimple was...

When you have two dimples, the devil flew in one dimple and flew out the other dimple.

When you have one dimple, the devil flew in and stayed!

OMGoodness!

That didn't go over well with me then. Post Pardum Depression takes out all the fun! Looking back, I see the humor!

Volunteers, anyone?

Look what volunteered to come up this spring!!! I'm so excited as tulips are my absolute favorite flower! I was a little down about missing the window to plant the bulbs this past winter. I was told that tulip bulbs just can't survive the Texas heat during the summer; thus the bulbs left in the ground will not survive to bloom again in the spring. Well not these beauties! Now, if I can just get these blooms to last more than 2 weeks!

The Easter Photo

I really tried! How do you get all three to cooperate at the same time?
I find myself repeatedly asking this same question. This is my best attempt.
Is that my princess sticking out her tongue?

I have finally arrived!

I have my own website with a shopping cart!!!

http://www.sillielillieboutique.com/

Why did it take me so long, You ask?

Intimidation! That is my biggest hurdle when I try to tackle a new task. I'll dream about it and talk about it forever until my brain is really ready to soak it all in. That is why I title this post "I have finally arrived!" I suppose it could also be titled "Revelation!" It seems lately, these past few years, I have arrived at something new or had a "revelation". Is this part of being 30 something?

For the past few years my mind has really developed creatively. A sewing skill I never even dreamed of has saturated my life. It came on so quickly, I just concentrated and went with it. Yep, I've made several mistakes, but I can just chalk those up to experience. I was disappointed when they occured, but I can look back now and feel appreciative of those mishaps.

Now I am at the point where I can really make something of my work from a business standpoint. OK- Here is the next hurdle!!! I'm so intimidated! I've got the design ability and the sewing skills down. So, where is my "owning and operating my own business" revelation??? I will continue to move forward and patiently wait for this revelation; and when it arrives, I will be ready.
